But perhaps the biggest influence on the series was one of my favorite graphic novels: @kevinpanetta & @PlinaGanucheau's Zodiac Star Force. This wonderful comic greatly helped me get over my hang ups about writing a magical girl story & left a lasting impression on me. 🥰

Plenty of Western influences over the years as well such as W.I.T.C.H., Winx Club, She-Ra and plenty others!

One of the biggest influences on MGDF's tone was the Symphogear series. While not a magical girl series in the traditional sense, it shares a lot of the hallmarks, & greatly inspired my story's tone & blend of high concept action beats & heartfelt cute character moments.

Some obvious ones would be the classics of old: 90s child me grew up being introduced to the concept of magical girls by Sailor Moon & eventually other shows like Cardcaptor Sakura & Tokyo Mew Mew & my love of the genre is history.

Specs:

Style: I'm looking for a clean anime/webtoon cel shaded style of rendering for the shadows and highlights, see examples below.
