Pharaohs' battle with the Underworld; A katabasis (from κατάβασις, κατὰ "down" & βαίνω "go") is a journey to the Underworld. The Heros (or upper-world deities) do battle with the World-Serpent. Only once the Serpent has been defeated can the Hero become Pharaoh.
