the design philosophy is the same, we just got an age stated for once. this DEF isn’t abt the protags age, They probably just didn’t want to do it again and thought the rotom idea worked better for the series.

CONCLUSION 2:

-simply being GOOD. which, when said that way…sounds kind of stupid. which it IS. it’s ok to be salty about these events happening after the episode and not in, but bringing hate directly to the artist for literally doing exactly what you asked for is laughable

CONCLUSION:

Mojacookies offical afterstories provided us with extra content to see after the episode, fulfilling wishes the writers didn’t. however, this is this fandoms first experience with this. they didn’t like the idea, and ended up giving these stories a bad rep for-

THE MISUNDERSTOOD 2:

-we wouldn’t have gotten these at all. so while yes, i’m pissed that alian and ash didn’t talk, i’m glad mojacookie was able to provide us with it, even if not in the show itself. i see these comics replies filled with anger, but i’m glad we have these

so, in all technicalities, people ARE getting mad over more content. people wouldn’t be as mad if they didn’t dangle all this in front of us. but they chose to. no one ever really thinks about how this DID happen, and if it were any other series-

now, you may be thinking “why are people so angry? doesn’t every season have stuff offscreen?”

that’s the issue. these comics only started with JN. after stories never really happened from OS-SM, so there was nothing to get upset about! we didn’t know.

THE BAD 2:
these also contained many exclusive interactions of returning characters, or small character developments which were completely skipped within the real pokemon jouneys series. this caused a LOOOOT of anger online…

now for the important part: misconceptions

THE BAD 1:

one major flaw with Pokemon journeys is that a lot of the PWC battles happened offscreen, and these didn’t help. showing heavily requested fan scenes….outside of the episode. for example, Ash and fan fav Alians only real interaction was in one of these after stories

THE GOOD:

a lot of the “offscreen land” artwork shows small interactions after each episode, just small stuff you’d imagine happening after an episode concludes. this also helps us get a deeper understanding on characters reactions to things. cute. simple. innocent.

Offscreen land is a fanmade term given to anything that happens offscreen in Pokemon Jouneys. however, this is most often used to talk about the “after story” cannon comics drawn by mojacookie and posted to @Anipoke_pr that take place after the weekly episode.
