Sort of wondering aloud here, but why are octopus-looking aliens so common in Japanese media? Was War of the Worlds a big hit in Japan or something?

And what caused the gray/green aliens with the big eyes to be so popular in the US? "Alien Autopsy," maybe?

This season is WILD, and it was so much fun to get to write on a series with such great characters and gorgeous animation. Also, the cast is SPECTACULAR.
