@JayHulmePoet @WryCritic It's too late for them to take over dinosaurs. We got there first. And I don't just mean casual dinosaur fans, trans people are paleontologists, paleoartists, popular science writers. If you like dinosaurs, chances are you already like the work of a trans preson.
I just realized it's 17th of October and I haven't posted anything proper halloweeny yet, so have this happy bat I drew a couple of years ago.
The blackwing is the most terrestrial of all the dragon species. This Australian predator can gallop on the ground at a startling speed, allowing it to pursue its prey to the bush better than its more flight-oriented cousins. #starstruck #dragons
Hey, some #Paleoctober relevant content at last! Obviously, as usual I am not following a pre-set prompt list but trying to cover some interesting taxa I rarely get to depict otherwise. Today's subject is the mystery theriodont and Permian big boy Megawhaitsia.
I guess I'm stuck doing #Spectember in October, but I couldn't resist continuing the sketch I made this morning of the Zhiruvach sea wyvern. It's the pinnacle of hexapodal dragon volancy, and a cautionary example of applying too much realistic evolution to a fantasy setting.
@hyuusz @WryCritic Don't forget the gradient. Always trust the gradient.
@EmilyVa30039150 Thank you so much! This certainly agrees with what I assumed would be right based on just common sense and what I knew of muscles in dicynodonts and present day eutherians. What really threw me off was this figure from Lautenschlager et al. (2017) I found earlier yesterday:
I finally found a muscle reconstruction of a therocephalian head and now I'm even more confused. Is there really nothing else connected to the posterior third of the mandible? Just bone and a big gaping hole? Please enlighten me, oh wise synapsid experts!
My latest #MOTU villain sculpt is a bit of a deep cut. Evilseed appeared both in the Filmation and the 2002 cartoons but never had a toy in either of the respective toylines (he did get two in the Classics line) My redesign combines features of both very different appearances.
