It was a pleasure to speak to artist Jonathan Comerford whose life was transformed after he walked into an Aberdeen printmaking studio in the 1980s. He has since battled apartheid and discrimination and wants new links between Aberdeen and Cape Town!

It’s 400 years in July since Edward Raban brought the first printing press to the Granite City and Aberdeen University is trying to track down his descendants. (Possible surnames include Milne, Murray and Johnston). To find out more, check out https://t.co/vAOt0XXKVp

I've no particular reason for posting this atmospheric scene of a cyclist heading past His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen, but I like Mary Louise Butterworth's paintings and anybody who lives in the city will be familiar with winter nights in a spectral darkness!

What a wonderful tribute to the smashing Una Stubbs from the “Sherlock” team. I watched one of the best episodes of the series “A Scandal in Belgravia” tonight and she was marvellous in it. She also made a very touching personal journey on “Who Do You Think You Are?”

The late Aberdeen artist, Eric Auld, created many resplendent paintings of his cherished north east and it’s hardly surprising his work is so highly regarded. The picture of the Mither Kirk was unveiled for the quincentenary in 1998!

Merry Christmas to everybody who knows me and (most of) those who don’t. I won’t be on Twitter much in the next few days, but even if we can’t travel at the moment, let’s always remember we live in a beautiful country!

Sad news about the death of Gordon Haskell, aged 74, a talented former member of King Crimson and somebody who loved festivals such as Oran Mor! Gordon Haskell: How Wonderful You Are https://t.co/esvihWYONF via

This is wonderful. The new single “Papillon” by Scottish musician/composer Seonaid Aitken, recorded with the Scottish Session Orchestra. It has lovely animation by Dutch artist Irene Ypenburg and I’m looking forward to the album next month! https://t.co/d3MZ8RIQKG via
