We couldn't resist having a look at some of the Beatrix books in our collection, spanning her classic picture books to wonderful watercolour landscapes:

So yet another fashion icon has passed #ThierryMugler RIP.😢He was a favourite of #DavidBowie who wore a TM dress for the #BoysKeepSwinging video in 1979 & a gorj suit for #TinMachine vid 91/92.

#RaymondBriggs, creator of #TheSnowman, lived in #Sussex & taught here @uniofbrighton (#Brighton School of Art). The flying sequence features some of our famous landmarks. Some say it's 'schmaltz' but we say 'look again' coz it's just a beautifully done #Xmas fave.

Taking uncollected reservations off shelf & noticed 'Elegance in the Age of Crisis: Fashions of the 1930s'. Love this pic of an #aviatrix (female pilot) suit with #nirvana emblazoned on it, not the #grunge band, the place. Flying (then) was likened to a divine experience see.😂

3/3: #Baya died in #Algeria in 1998, aged 66.😢Her image & work made it onto #Algerian stamps in 2008 & @GoogleDoodles commemorated her on what would have been her 87th birthday (12/12/2018). #BayaMahieddine باية محي الدين

1/2: Doing Reading List 4 @HumsBrightonUni module: 'Ideologies of Hate & the #Holocaust'.😢So interesting. Wish we could attend the lectures. DYK Italian #Futurists influenced #Mussolini & #Fascism? Their art looks innocuous but their manifesto?😱

First nation peoples of #USA also respected a 'third gender', known today as Two Spirit (both male & female). Term not universally accepted tho. Pic is Sauc & Fox Nation people of Great Plains in ceremonial dance to celebrate 2 spirit person. #Pride
