「茶の湯日々草」は茶事の一連の流れを描いた作品。それまで男性の嗜みだった茶道が、明治期に女性にも普及しはじめたことを受けて制作されたようです。

Born as the eldest son of a bookstore owner, he aspired to become a painter and was already drawing paintings for the block prints at the age of 10. Also, he taught himself the technique.

重政は書肆（本屋）の長男として生まれたことから絵師を志すようになり、すでに10歳で版下絵を描いていました。師はおらず、その技術は独学で得たものでした。
美人画のほか、浮絵や草双紙の挿絵も多数描きましたが、一枚絵よりはむしろ版本における活躍が目立っています。

北尾 重政『浮絵 待乳山麓三橋亭機織二階座敷之図』

浮絵とは西欧の透視画法（遠近法）を用いて屋内の様子などを遠近感を強調して描いたもの。
北尾 重政は江戸時代中期の浮世絵師で、北尾派の祖である人物です。
