The Broad’s “veil”, a porous, honeycomb-like exterior, was designed so that all panels are calibrated to shield the interior—and its artworks—from the damaging effects of direct sunlight, regardless of the season or time of day.

Fun fact: Jenny Saville completed one of these works early in her career when she was only 24 years old; she completed the other work years later, after giving birth to her first child. Can you guess which is which?

In Two Marilyns (1962), Andy Warhol depicts Marilyn Monroe as a metaphor for fame and the fading of memory. The left side of the piece portrays Monroe as the iconic beauty she was, while the right shows a more deteriorated image. His work is now on view #AtTheBroad!
