PROVIDENCE (Moore, Burrows): maybe Moore's densest, most research-heavy, intentionally literary work since FROM HELL. An interrogation and re-sublimation of weird horror fiction, in particular Lovecraft, standing arm to arm with the best of its kind, such as Michael Shea's work.
THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS feels like the most personal, romantic, and entertaining mainstream action SF since MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, but it's also funny, queer, and resolutely, sincerely meta.
What a joy to see a big budget Hollywood movie be so unashamedly itself. Algorithm killer.
