I'm particularly proud of the newest addition to the family: the Mini style. Mini’s open counters, deep ink-traps and simplified structure enhance legibility and eases Jaune swagger in longer text.
Jaune started as an ultra display fat face on @futurefonts, and it felt at the same time exhilarating and challenging to push it further in opposite directions, to the thinest weight and the smaller sizes during its 2 years incubation time.
So, Jaune is close to reach the final line and move from @futurefonts (🥰) to @nan_xyz_ (🥵) and I wanted to clarify one point: the final family will be devided between 3 sub-fams with the arrival of the new Mini one, shown below.
Forward inherits from @fadebiaye long time love for technological aesthetics associated with a brutalist approach to type design. The mixture of a futuristic approach with a voluntarily heterogeneous way of dealing with rules leads to a new take on afrofuturism in type design.
@futurefonts But what makes Petite different from Grande?
• A smaller x-height
• Open apertures (but sticky alternates available)
• Looser spacing
• Thicker Thins
• Bigger inktraps
All those improving the comfort of reading for smaller sizes.
Psssst, Jaune v0.6 just landed on @futurefonts and in technicolor™. As said earlier, the main change is the division of Jaune in 2 subfamilies.
