At its closest, the spacecraft got ~214 miles from the surface — Closer than the ISS’s average altitude of 227 miles.

NEWS 🚨: New data from NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows that surface water existed on Mars for much longer than 1 billion years and sooner than previously thought
To date, NASA has confirmed almost 5,000 exoplanets out of the 100 billion believed to exist in our galaxy.
A donut-shaped planet could technically exist (and be gravitationally stable), but it would have to be moving at extreme speeds. Days would be just a few hours.
