Posted an illo on IG yesterday and of course forgot to share it on twitter too - here's a commission I made for @JeanetteLaba that's an LA tribute to “Lunch Atop A Skyscraper”.
Happy #PortfolioDay! I'm Naomi, a mixed Japanese American illustrator who likes bold colors and limited lines. I'm available for freelance and interested in editorial, publishing, and lifestyle illustration.

“Exotic” is a great word for describing foreign flora and fauna. People of color, not so much 😬 I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been called “exotic” but I can tell you it’s enough to make me want a shirt like this.
The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea by @emteehall is a Japanese-inspired fantasy that includes magic, PIRATES, discussions of gender fluidity, and reckoning with colonialism. I highly recommend it!
@AestheticsJapan Thanks for doing this! I'm a biracial Japanese American illustrator who likes to draw food, among other things 😊
The City We Became by @nkjemisin has some of the most vibrant characters I’ve read all year, so even before I finished reading I knew I had to draw them. If you love fallible gods or fantasy with clever social commentary, you can’t do better than this! #bookfanart
@TheNoisyPencil Hi #PortfolioDay! I'm an AsAm illustrator who loves vivid colors and diverse stories.
