Wanna feel old? The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening turns 30 on June 6.
That's right. It's a literal generation and a half (Millennial -> Gen-Z -> Alpha) since gamers first wandere the shores of Koholint Island.
It's a Sakura Wars night.
It plays differently than I remember though. 🤔🤔
Finally scanning in the Sakura Wars newsletters as I got home from work a bit early. I'm in love with some of these covers.
Rewatching the direct now that I"m on lunch - that's @MikaPikaZo that did the character designs, right?
If so, rad - she also did the designs for #SakuraWars' Moscow Combat Revue.
Short review: Belle - Very pretty, with nice songs. That said, the story was painfully overwrought and the dialogue had the subtlety of a brick crashing through a plate glass window.
Still, it was an enjoyable mash-up of Jem and the Holograms and Beauty and the Beast.
Looking back, we could reasonably interpret Simple Life as an expression of denial, presented as a quirky carefree demeanor. Ask most trans people, and - yeah - many of us put on brave, smiling faces, and tried to pretend things didn't exist as we screamed internally. (4/7)
1981: Urusei Yatsura
Rumiko Takahashi's first mega-hit, this lengthy series is still fun to revisit today. Much like Ranma, do not try watching this all at once - you will hate it after a while if you do - but it's still a fun, quirky, often silly rom-com
Good comfort food.
2001: Galaxy Angel
To put it simply: Galaxy Angel makes me smile. This madcap comedy doesn't give the viewer a moment to breathe, as Milfeulle and the rest of the Angel Brigade explore the known universe for lost technology... often with hilariously over-the-top results!
This escaped my attention over Otakon weekend, but Made Mode will be hosting a live event - The Kohei Tanaka Hour, feat. Hibiku Yamamura & Yui Kanchiku - who both played Azami in Shin Sakura Taisen (Yamamura = game/anime, Kanchiku = stage).
The first half will be live streamed! https://t.co/qK4F6xl1Y5
