Potterton was the man who gave a silent legend a worthy sendoff, had a hand in animating a counterculture classic, & orchestrated another down the line. A filmmaker and animator who is as undersung as he is incredibly important. #RIPGeraldPotterton https://t.co/DW8LKoB0Pc
Here's the deal.
For a sweet spot in the 70s/80s, we got to see the heights of Western animation. Disney was losing ground & a spaghetti-meet-wall strategy was seemingly the way to go. We lost that to deep pockets wanting the easy way out & exporting animation on a wide scale. https://t.co/64sMFtGGLj
@Stevoo7 @gknout @moosematson @billteck @WilliamScurry @AdamRackoff @hwoodminotaur @SkyeMovies @WelshBluesman @giorgiomoroder @jratm23 @studiotstella @SoundtrackAlley @ScoreThePodcast Nothing like hitching a ride on the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. 😉
@cirsova @bunchofnumber18 @wastelandJD As a "Prophecy" man myself (that chorus still slays), I must say:
Here's my killer quartet
Motörhead: ACE OF SPADES
Judas Priest: PAINKILLER
Black Sabbath: THE MOB RULES
Vicious Rumors: DIGITAL DICTATOR https://t.co/DAeEw3qjmS
Eiji Tsuburaya and the Toho FX team really did a hell of a job on 1964's DOGORA. Fascinating creature design & insanely moody #VFX work, including some top-shelf miniatures, great mattes, & the cloud-tank based kaiju theatrics.
@KKalvaitis We've spent a decade with this approach, and aesthetically, even in the best performing, most critically acclaimed works, still doesn't even match the comics aesthetically whatsoever. Go animated if you have to. Hell, HEAVY METAL got this shit right split across 5+ teams lol.
@RAZ0RFIST Considering the wealth of film noir boxsets being released by the likes of Indicator and Kit Parker, there is hope for it yet. Fingers crossed someone dives into the Paramount vaults for it.
