Today has been all about getting wound up with words for a picture book idea that I initially thought could be wordless. Ideas evolve, but sometimes simple threads get tangled into knots! Oh, the joy of #creativewriting !

Inevitably, an uncomfortable book - attempted too much with the time available, only refs were my limited Tokyo bookshelf... these the most presentable, the rest I don't show (troll pix were a disaster!)

I'm celebrating this weekend, for today marks the 40th anniversary of my very first professional illustration commission - 30 x drawings and coloured cover for 'Fatbag' by @JstrongJeremy . The p/b edition (with cover by @NickSharratt1 ) remains in print to this day! @PuffinBooks
