The eye is composed of two part.
The outer eye is just a reflective/refractive/transparent ball that will simulate the cornea, and the inner eye will be everything else (iris, pupil, that white part, etc)
Like the human eye it is not round. The iris is flat and the cornea bumpy.
Sharing some behind the scenes, here are the sculpt at the lowest and highest subdivision level.
I first sculpted the model in Zbrush, did the retopology in Blender, then reimported it into Zbrush to detail it.
The goal was to have a nice topology as a base for detailing.
@the_Skrool_art Even though the character of Ithikk is heavily connected to bugs, and more specifically beetles, I wanted to avoid any animal representation on the Kimono. I decided to use floral patterns.
I however kept the red/black colors of his uniform, but in a lighter palette.
A weird problem I had with the glowsticks is that I wanted them to look bright and glowing, but the indirect lighting they were projecting around them was too strong.
A simple way to fix this issue is to switch between two materials for rays directly going in the camera.
