@juliagalef This is DOPE. We're currently producing a graphic novel saga of John Henry that brings him back to life and expands his mythology. Please tell your dad John Henry's tale is far from over!
First look at the beautiful art inside the pages of John Henry: Invictus, @maykestudios alternative fantasy graphic novel saga that reimagines the tall tale legend.

I came out the womb with a cape and a box of Crayola. Art let me be heard when I couldn't speak for myself. It let me escape from the real world and travel to the ones inside my head. I don't know how I got this far from it, but I'm coming back.
Bolt's world. Braxton's world. Tremor's world. John Henry's world—all of these excite me. All of them different and each a door into different parts of our experience. It took me feeling like an outsider for YEARS to create this, but if you ask me? It was worth it.
Mayke is about connecting us to experiences, differences, cultures, and communities that aren't our own. It's using superheroes to show everyone is extraordinary in their own way. It's about telling stories that help us validate each other.
This really hit when I created Bolt. I second-guessed everything in fear he wasn't Black enough. Bolt comes from a world I couldn't access: the hood. Or the hidden societies of innovation, ingenuity, and the lifeblood of the culture as I like to think of them.
What's y'all take on Sister Krone from The Promised Neverland. Because as for me and my house...I'm unsettled.
