I love the idea that some monsters in can steal or render the soul of a living being so they cannot be resurrected or live on as a ghost. They can not only kill the physical body, but also the spiritual one too.

Everyone scavenges parts of beasts, but necromancers have started using undead parts for hideous weapons:

Ghoul finger arrow tips to deliver paralysis
Skeletal bone armour to protect against slashing weapons
Wight-claw mace to deliver level-loss attacks

I love creating demi-planes in my campaign world. They inhabit the Ethereal Plane & are created by seismic magical events or by powerful individuals (like demi-gods or high-level mages).
