The black footed ferret was almost extinct in the 1960s. Due to habitat loss and a strain of prairie dog plague, the ferrets' main source of food is still diminishing. However, due to conservation efforts, these ferrets are slowly making comeback, there are around 350 left.

Can’t watch #Midway without thinking about the USS Yorktown CV-5. She fought hard and took a beating on behalf of the carriers USS Enterprise and USS Hornet. My father served on her namesake, USS Yorktown CV-10 in the 1960s.
