The bright blue on these pages-- created at Christ Church, Canterbury, about 1000 years ago-- was made from lazurite. This was probably imported from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, 4000 miles away.

In 1705 a haunting took place in Canterbury,which is said to have inspired the world's first modern ghost story 'The Apparition of Mrs Veal' by Daniel Defoe. Here's a couple of early panels for my graphic novel adaptation illustrated by the talented -keep those fires lit!
