In order to compete with manga, major comic book companies try to use more cartoonish artwork. The problem was never the art to begin with. American comics art is superior. Manga is beating mainstream comics due to superior storytelling and world-building consistency.

Dumb Dragon Ball fans complaining about Trunks' hair color when it's just a matter of CONSISTENCY. Bulma, Trunks, and Bra must have the same hair color, that's all. Whether it's purple or blue, their hair should look the same. It's not rocket science.

To add on this, while they may not be objectively bad in the terms of generic artistic talent, I think people have the right to be critical of it in the terms of (for an example) anatomy consistency.

In the beginning I said the artist have a (not) very defined style. With that I meant: all of @IsolationistThe paintings are portraits of seemingly faceless people. That is a defined theme with consistency. But how the identity, or “face”, is painted, is ever changing.

Yes, we missed a planned miniseries that fell through, but C could easily have filled in the expected backstory that took Rachel from A (in UXM) to B (in Excalibur). Instead, it was left unsaid, forming, for many, a compelling gap in backstory rather than an inconsistency. 4/10

I think it's unlikely to see these reused. The age of SMT games needing original 2D art may be ending. But if they are needed, they are more likely to be glamour shots of the 3D models, like SMT5's, for consistency.
