@Shine_pearlly I think BnW is a good approach to practice lighting! I'd like to share with you that is what i do with most of my artworks! I would first use greyscale so that I can practice lights and shadows first before I put any colors so I think ur taking a good approach to improvement!
Experimenting with working in greyscale and gradient mapping , it’s kinda fun! #tlou #tloufanart
@webtooncanvas Converted the existing color pages of Second Contact to greyscale since it'll be a greyscale comic going forward. I like the lighting and drama of the most recent page.
Base color and greyscale of my character. I think I made him a little too cocky though haha

I am opening up commissions to hopefully help get through some bills while I transition into my new job! I’ve got greyscale sketches and full color pieces on offer. My Ko-Fi is below!
Shares are very much appreciated!
Greyscale + Random color palette challenge
THIS IS SO FUN!!
Tried something new! working on my greyscale stuff and drawing for myself again! #ArtistOnTwitter #atomicheart
Here's the Boris painting that I held up earlier in this thread as an example of good work from him, converted to greyscale. Lovely control of values here.
As I've said in an earlier thread, Corben does not over-render his figures. The intense colour is deceptive. The light areas in his paintings are typically more subdued than one might think. Convert the new cover to greyscale, and subtle modelling of the forms becomes obvious.
Might take some manga style page comms to cover the vets if it's too much
Would anybody be interested in 100USD for a greyscale page or 150 for colour?
Trying out a shading and highlighting technique others have done to save some serious time.
Greyscale shadows above your flats, then adjust your layer settings as needed.
Have to say, for my lineless works, this works AWESOMELY.
i usually keep it simple for my convenience. i tend to draw over other layers. my pixel arts usually consist of a reference layer, the background, and one layer for the drawing. and maybe a greyscale filter to check values. usually try to keep it under 10 https://t.co/iajPLMrNdi
The first two pages of Kid Detective Au are here! Just a declaimer for this comic, since it’s my first time doing one, most of the pages will be in greyscale and a bit messy since I don’t want to overwhelm myself too much with this project. More in progress #spookymonthKDAU
Third greyscale practice I'm really happy with!! She's Sera, an oc :)
