Another detail is highlights. They are mostly applied on hair and other reflective materials. These are white but sometimes have warm lining and the shade where they are placed usually gets darker before the actual white, like watercolor.

2. Fill BG, colour lines
3. Colour skin & sclera (whites of eyes)
4. Add saturated colour below iris
5. Highlights. Dark Med, Brighter Lg, & 2 Sm
6. Shadow over Iris
7. Render with smudge, blur & soft brushes.

OHHH I GOTCHU OKAY, If you're drawing black hair use white for the highlights. The hair doesn't have to be completely black you can use other dark colors that match or different shades of black as well :D
