For I drew a Western Brook Lamprey in They are one of the native lampreys to the USA and are non-parasitic. I was part of a research team looking for these in rivers around the Great Lakes. Sadly, the poison for sea lampreys works on these guys too.

Freshwater eels aren't native to the US Pacific Coast. All the eels in N. America come from the Sargasso Sea, & swim in waters that empty into the Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico.

There are lots of lampreys on the W. coast. But no native eels.
