Prime Video's Invincible should be the first step for the industry to order R-rated animated comicbook series that DON'T come from Marvel or DC. Here are some suggestions off the top of my head that hopefully Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, or Apple TV can take some interest in adapting!
I love "Man of Steel" but I'd have loved a Zack Snyder directed R-rated "Supreme Power" movie even more. If you've never read the comics by J. Michael Straczynski and Gary Frank you really should. Action, intrigue, and people who're godlike dealing with their place in the world.
