I'd really love a PICO-M1 kind of thing. Like PICO-8, but built around a very basic 3D rendering engine instead. No textures, only vertex colors, diffuse lighitng, low resolution, no alpha blending, only dithering and alpha cutoff. Basically something built for games like this:

Painting isn't about blending, just check out this piece by

it's not about using water color brushes and blur brushes

it's about knowing how to use strokes, aswell as using strokes to emulate hard and soft edges

i’m so obsessed with my hair. like seriously, there’s a reason that i got to an award-winning colorist. the blending, colors, and root shadow is SUPERB

Thanks on behalf of my students! I get them to try out lots of watercolour textures, dry brush, wet in wet blending, printing. Here are some more:

Or, depending on your time setting, you can forgo the blending, include gold, and go with the colors of Mardi Gras. 😉

The colors were established around 1872, but Carnival has been a celebration of excess since at least Ancient Rome.

Ok phase 1 vs phase 2 blending — now with bar fight battle damage! Sometimes after blending, the colors get washed out. Just re-apply color until you get it looking the way you want. :) want me to keep going? Leave a like ❤️

My review for The Unspoken Name by is now up on

“Genre blending, highly addictive... this is simply an elegant, intricate work of art.”

I had to make some slight changes, is the outline color so i couldn't use it for the body without it blending, but i did keep it very dark

My fav works for this year!
Learned to work better with colors, shading/blending, visualizing stuff in 3D, texture

Good to know all those photo studies paid off. Best advice I learned this year is to study from videos. Helped me study poses in "weirder" positions.

For this week's I tried experimenting with shading, blending, and an old parchment style of background using spray brushes to make my take on Hanako Hayashi. Great show everyone!

I draw my character in rh and i don't use blending, the shading is solid .w.

it would be times when I do neat lineart, or more blending, more traditional look with textures, abstract and more~~

i'll admit

when you get adjusted more to blending, it actually seems more fun woahh

Re: pigment flow again, physics can surprise you. This was a lunchtime sketch of a Garibaldi. I dropped the same two neutral complements (cobalt and orange) into the fins. The blue flowed into the orange without blending, creating lovely shadows.

Did a (relatively) quick drawing of Medusa and figured it was a chance to mess with my shading, color blending, and crosshatching more. Pretty sure she doesnt lift her visor like that, but I did it just for the pose.

I tried to make a smexy. Did it work? 😓

Different style. No lines. Crazy amounts of blending, shading, & all sorts of fun stuff. 3 - 4 hours. I must be out of it b/c my hand hurts from all that drawing. x-x

First attempt at rendering a digital bust! Messed around with coloring, hair and blending, but this was more of an experiment and was playing it safe lol [BTW this will be my first Tweet as well!!!]
