Fukasawa was the director of this episode and I can't get over the Dezaki-like postcards that illustrated Kinemon's love story.
More Fai Lao! I wanted to draw something similar to a Dezaki-Frame, and this is the result!

Legend of anime Osamu Dezaki, everybody, providing us with artistically illustrated shots of Lupin getting rightfully smacked. Many times.
@JimBelushi In terms of more anime classics, would suggest anything from the late great iconic anime director, Osamu Dezaki. Some favorites include Black Jack the movie and the OVA, Golgo 13: The Professional, Space Adventure Cobra, Tomorrow's Joe: The Movie, Dear Brother, & so many more.

Surprised that Oniisama E doesn't seem to be counted among the canonical yuri texts, bc Maria sama ga miteru (*the* canonical yuri anime) irradiates some big Dezaki energy
Dezaki was a pioneer in the world of anime & his distinct signature styles & techniques such as the "postcard memories" continue to be an influence to animation today

@ianjq Dezaki and his partner Sugino were masters at handling limited animation. Among the various techniques they used, the post-card memories are probably the most emblematic of his style. If you haven't, please try to give a watch to Dear Brother. Is available on Retro Crush.

Almost sure Dezaki's style was influenced by film. But if that were the case, he didn't limit himself to replicate it's techniques, he also used the unique resources of animation to create even more powerful images.
This technique is called “postcard memory” and dates to Osamu Dezaki and the early years of the Japanese animation industry. But it persists to this day. Featured below: #RoseofVersailles (1979), #SpaceAdventureCobra (1982), #Berserk (1997), and #HajimenoIppo (2000-2002).
Queen Bee from the titular Golgo 13 OVA was also another great femme fatale redhead. More animation direction from Osamu Dezaki as well.
There's a segment on Arakawa Under the Bridge's second season where they parody "Aim for the Ace" and it's director and storyboarder, Shinichi Omata a.k.a. Mamoru Hatakeyama (the director of Rakugo/Kaguya-sama) goes full Dezaki.
