Before using aseprite, I used to do my sketches in a drawing program (medibang paint) and "trace" pixel by pixel using a pixel brush!
One of my most famous artworks was done like this 🩷

Granted, I've used Medibang stuff before on da PC but one thing I'll say is that their brushes just clicks, at least with me. I love how simple and straightforward they are, few minor adjustments on it will gimme the brush consistency I like.
On Procreate, took me a month lol
