I have created two related projects for crowdsourced transcription of data that together constitute the Monterey Bay Historical Plankton Project. We have 14 years of weekly phytoplankton samples, and 9 years of weekly zooplankton samples, all collected at 6 stations in the bay.
I just found my old laptop and downloaded https://t.co/C7KKEwkrTJ.
So I made some more progress on Monterey 16x.
Also showing a previous pic of when i started working on the pack.
Luckily, with appropriate permissions and social distancing, we are able to continue with our research surveys with a very limited group of volunteers. Today we observed 4+ Killer Whales - the CA39s! We also counted 12 Humpback Whales throughout our 5th research survey. #monterey
"Elandra", work in progress. Excited to really get to work on this one. I live walking distance from the Monterey Bay, and this one has just a tiny nod to it. https://t.co/43Tc6oNNWI

Next up: more Killer whales. The 1991 Safari orca (with calf), both part of the Monterey Bay set. Then the 2017 Schleich one, and the tall-finned 1996 Safari one... #orca #killerwhale
A tribute to my briny Pacific friends - common denizens of tide pools and Monterey Bay. Turban snail, red abalone, spot prawn, anemone and oysters. #watercolor #montereybay #sealife
Went to Monterey Bay Aquarium a few days ago. Doodled some pictures. Here's my eel peice.

Breaking: Another "white" Transient Orca calf has appeared, this time in Monterey Bay! The calf is no more than a few days old, judging by the still visible fetal folds on its body. The mother hasn't been positively identified yet, but it definitely belongs to the CA216 matriline
