Today I spent a great deal of time enjoying the fairy illustrations of Australian artist Ida Rentoul Outhwaite. Her work had been so popular that her book Fairyland was gifted to an infant Princess Elizabeth, who later became Queen.

The brilliant Australian artist Ida Rentoul Outhwaite died 1960. Her Waterfall Fairy and both beautiful bat- & broomstick-riding are from “The Enchanted Forest” (1921). Her Witch on a hill surrounded by familiars is from “Elves & Fairies” (1916).
