Tales of Eternia and Dragon Seeds are two I have soft spots for. And good lord, the sampling for Dragon Seed's soundtrack is superb. PopoloCrois is another I don't think many people have played or talked about (people seem to recall the anime, though.)
@Count_Roxy_Dusk Popolocrois Series is pretty much obscure but was popular in Golden Era of RPGs on PS1 in japan, the game had a big fight rivalry with Arc The Lad and Wild Arms, sadly what we got in english for the first time is only the PSP version.

PopoloCrois Mobile now are still active by now in japan, sega and Japan Studio no longer involved with this and handed it to original devs epics. Original manga creator has hinted new Popolocrois game is coming to home consoles pretty much soon.

Black Baron, Originally from the PopoloCrois 1981 Manga and then his design in 1992 was drawn by Atsuko fukushima, later debuted in Return to Popolocrois for 3DS. He was Gamigami devil loyal servant.
