Process goes hand-in-hand with patience, practice, repetition. I often think that this painstaking repetitive methodology must be a bit similar to the way many scientists carry out their work.

I drew this male and female bufflehead pair in grad school about 7 years ago.

Day 29: Process

Common (Alcedo atthis)
Until 2020, I had no special relationship to kingfishers. But after ringing my first watching them intensely, handling them: This is one of the most incredible birds I know!

Sketches of mostly tiny living things.

Day 28: Tiny

action!
Stripe-tailed Hummingbirds (Eupherusa eximia) and Violet Sabrewings (Campylopterus hemileucurus). It must be quite difficult to ring such tiny because of the size - and the super fast metabolism!

Ooh boy, this mistletoe is the most combined sketch ever. For days 23, 24, and 27: Arboreal, Circular, and Adaptable

Hoping I can catch up in time to do a full painting for day 30 - to close it off nicely, and because I got an idea that I really want to do

It's Day 28 in my neck of the woods.
"Tiny" is the prompt.

This brightened my day last spring:
My very cosmopolitan tardigrade enjoying a cosmo provided by fellow artist Zina Deretsky (not on twitter) https://t.co/rbgjyxNROd

I’m not sure what day of the prompt is but here is ‘Bloodlines’ a photo-digital print. Also a play on words :-)

This self-portraits begins an upcoming series of portraits of ancestors & others.

Day 25 for (playing catch-up) is

This 60x40” painting ‘Heartspace 3’ answers where we keep the people & places & things that we hold in our hearts by playing with heart structures a little.

For adaptable, I give you the many Grackles of WDW.

Day 22 - for I'm picking on the Sphynx cat for this prompt. They're neat animals but only came about from selective breeding in the 1960s in Canada. 🤯

For the day 27 of the prompt is 'adaptable'. Snakeheads are one of the most adaptable species, we see them all around the world and have proven to survive through extreme conditions!

Day 22 Illogical and also calling it for familial as well.

Illogical because it's called chicken of the woods which is a decidedly illogical name. And familial because they're often in groups!

Also yes I am spamming to play catch-up 🙃

Sequence from my current project. Here we see that aphids are, in fact, nature's pez dispensers.

Forgot to share these sketches for Day 17 Mechanical and combined Days 19 & 20 - Cerulean and Botanical

I don't think I'll be drawing more rovers anytime soon 🤣

After quitting day 26: Energy (I really didn' find anything that fits - and no time to make something!), here is

Day 27: Adaptable

Eurasian (Pica pica)
Like other pica species, these birds are true generalists!

for is "Energy." 🌊

Another couple of pieces that would probably work just as well for the "circular" prompt, but I think these also express ideas about energy.

Both of these artworks are from 2015, the first in watercolor & the second in acrylic.
