I'm work shopping something cool with old research colleagues of mine, @Sketchy_raptor & @Jake_Atterby. It might end up horrid, and never see the daylight, or be quite fun non-academic #scicomm endeavor. Anyway, here's wip of our trio next to taxa we're researching.
Dinosaur paleontologists have tons of options for simple icons of their taxa to use in talks, etc. I figured it's time us therapsid enthusiasts had something nice to use!
DM me to get the non-watermarked versions for $1. I'm happy to alter colors or add taxa if requested!
Suffice to say that osteological variation within extant megamammal taxa - even those now suspected to be species complex (like extant Giraffa) - is subtle and not like the significant variation seen in the Morrison #sauropods Prothero compared them with. Ok, moving on...
@MetTiinA I like this one from a 2015 paper by Allen et. al. It's not applicable everywhere, especially because of how weird croc coracoids are and due to taxa-specific discrete differences in orgins/insertions, but I think it's one of the best references for the major groups in Archosaurs
Among the many taxa Hooker described, one of the most famous is #Welwitschia mirabilis. Here is one of the illustrations from the paper describing the species (Hooker, 1862, Trans. Linn.Soc. 24: 1–48; https://t.co/kCsNEKNLzB).

Still not done with the rhinos. This is Metamynodon, part of the semiaquatic, hippo-like branch of amynodonts. Still a couple more early taxa to do.
Migas me ajudem a pagar as conta e a taxa da minha união estável encomendando comissions! Vou fazer uma ~thread~ com alguns trabalhos legais q eu fiz, começando com alguns retratos de casais, pra ficar no tema kkkkk ! (RT pra dar aquela força tbm super bem vindo rs)
Warmup sketch. Hypothetical evolution of #pterosaurs from a lagerpetid/scleromochlus-like ornithodiran, taking an arboreal route. Hopefully one day we will be able to find some of these intermediate taxa! #paleoart #sciart #evolution Late for #DarwinDay
Im a malaysian who spend most of my time on Taiwan, mainly use (but not very well on) japanese and english on twitter. I make stuffs about arthropods, specifically gijinka and diagrams, but recently also reconstructions of some fossil taxa as well.

Hope you all haven't forgotten that despite my latest archosaur-centric works, a pretty high percentage of my #paleoart is non-Mesozoic taxa including invertebrates & flora

Combining #genetic, geographic & #morphometric data to assess #species boundaries of 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘢 pteropods shows the potential of #integrative approaches for diverse taxa, important for predicting species-specific responses to #ClimateChange.

Some other arachnid #Arthrogirls from 2017. There're still a lot need to do in order to present the diversity of arachnid taxa, shamefully I still lack any mites.
Beyond personal interest, this is one of the way I try to debunk people's bad reputation on arthropods as well.
Canids of South America, including species extinct in the last 12,000 years. Canids are surprisingly diverse in South America. Some hypercarnivore taxa went extinct 12-10,000 years ago (along with most of the megafauna). Did this in sketch style #paleoart #sciart #MammalMonday
It’s #WorldLizardDay so I created this plate with the basic coloration of breeding adult males of Iguanas in the genus Iguana. There is a lot of taxonomic confusion in the genus and many undescribed taxa remain within the name Iguana iguana. #sciart #lizards #iguana
When assessed ontogenetically using previously published matrices, we identified that about half of the elements' character states varied through ontogeny (life cycle). We strongly recommend caution when naming new taxa based on juvenile material. 3/n
For #DinosaurDay, I feel obligated to share my reconstructions of *record scratch* popular #dinosaurs?? In order, here is Stegosaurus, Velociraptor, Triceratops, and Spinosaurus. I try to reconstruct underrepresented taxa so I very rarely do the big names. #paleoart #sciart
