Nothing like a new Uekawa art dropping to end the day

Love the colors on this one

My Sally design, but Uekawa-esc! This was meant to just be a sketch but then I lost control

I do wanna take this moment to plug Shuffle’s aesthetic tho; shows how Uekawa’s style could blend really well with more grounded human environments without going photorealistic.
This could have made for a good consistent aesthetic for the series. It’s basically trippier Sonic X https://t.co/GIHsV30J3d

Here's another Uekawa Sonic

The quill size and even Sonic's body proportion adjustments are also indicated in Yuji Uekawa's continuously evolving Sonic artworks.

I like both. Sonic is Sonic (imo).

for modern/uekawa art, i look through the sonic art assets dvd

for classic, i look through the official concept art of mania adventures and also the idw anniversary comic

(the dvd is archived on the archive․org, it has a lot of uekawa art in hq: https://t.co/uIs2AeamHN)

I often study from Yuji Uekawa's 2011-2016 artwork for Sonic Channel, because he leaves in a bit of sketch in, and it can help me learn how they specifically draw Sonic characters.
its very interesting

Thank you! I'm Stephane, a Haitian artist who is a Sonic fan obviously lol. I love the Karasuno and Uekawa art styles especially. I also like voice acting, sushi and sunsets!

Yuji Uekino and Satoshi Okino

Just a neat place to put this fun fact: Yuji Uekawa and Satoshi Okano both collaborated on Sonic's design for SA1, and for the final art Okano did all the drafts and sketches while Uekawa finalized them. Funniest thing is this imo:

Yesterday I realized sonic is cross eyed in a few of Yuji Uekawa’s older artwork
I can’t unsee it and it’s so fucking funny to me

HOW did it take me two decades to realize that the pom-pom on the Chao’s Santa hats in this Adventure art is SEPARATED from the actual hat to resemble the floating orbs Chao naturally have above their heads??

I love Uekawa’s little design touches like this 🥹💕
