I got a neat book detailing some of the multitude of Africa’s textile history across its regions. The trousers are based off trousers commonly worn by the Dorze People in Southern Ethiopia. Typically reserved for those that killed in battle, now used as general ceremonial gear.

Evidence suggests the first application of rubber was for balls used by the Olmecs in their sports. Later, Mayans and Aztecs used it to make containers and turn textiles waterproof.
