He went into exile in England during the Great War. The Mothers (1919), Justice (1907-14), The Winning Genius (1914). During this period his thoughts turned to the invasion of his country & the bloodshed of WWI. His Mothers is a tribute to the bereaved.

From 1892-5 he set up the group Pour L’Art which was about Idealism. His work met with popular success. Orpheus’ Death (1893), Portrait of Madame Delville (1893) & Angel of Splendour (1894). He was a collegial artist in that he tended to be a member of a group.

ersetzt (1892-94).
Diese wurde im 2. Weltkrieg zerstört & nicht mehr ersetzt worden.
