I really want to start a little positivity... PLEASE draw Nessa, no matter WHAT your skill level is. If this whitewashing issue is important to you, draw her with her real skin color! tag with #colorthewaterqueen and i will rt you!
#PokemonSwordShield #nessapokemon #Nessa
This is it! I found the real culprit of the whitewashing Nessa issue!
It was Ditto... all along!!!!
@Michael14762709 @Donutkun_ Yeah it unfair to the artists that didn’t whitewashed but are getting called out for it. Obviously the ape one and the full on whites ones are unacceptable. It all started with someone “correcting” some else art lol.
Relax, this is just humor

Drew Nessa from Pokemon Sword and Shield. :'^) Stop fuckin harassing artists.

@betcrockerbook Found this from another post, so uh, it's not necessarily "whitewashing". Artists can pretty much do whatever the fuck they want with their art based on however the fuck they want to do it. Art is art. 🤷🏻♀️
I drew Nessa in many variations bc I believe artists shouldn't be harassed for drawing what they like in the way they like, specially fanarts made with love and apretiation for those characters.
Is artistic expression, It doesn't hurt anybody neither the canon

@dystopicrhythm @Idolomantises Like, if you’re into Splatoon, the official artwork for the Splatfests sometimes messes up Marina’s skintone. Second image is her canon tone. First image is the whitewashed one. Third, despite being a similar tone, looks fine IMO cuz of the color palette its clear shes dark.
If you like a character being black when they're white or you like a character being white instead of black that's your opinion preference and that's fine there's no problem. But if you see it as/make it racist you're the problem. #Nessa #WhiteWashing
@OhHeyCassidy Also, since this person doesn't even know what whitewashing truly is, here's a good explanation: https://t.co/GuJ4UcOYjg
I’ve been seeing a lot of whitewashing discourse on my timeline, people saying dark skin “doesn’t work with pastels” so I tried it and I have to say that’s dead wrong!
Nope.
Thought I'd bring my own thoughts on the whitewashing discourse.
Please note that this isn't an attack on artists, just offering some corrections, insight and hope for a more healthy discussion.
I'm beating up the next person who says "it's not whitewashing because of the pastel color palette and art style blah blah color theory"
I made some examples showcasing how it's ENTIRELY POSSIBLE to retain the same skin tone in a completely different color palette ft. nessa
I don’t understand why people feel the need to alter skin colors from people’s art and claim the original piece is “whitewashing”.
Hey if youre gonna criticize artist please be mindful if theyre actually whitewashing vs just using effects that lightens the WHOLE color palette
@SakimiChanArt Just gonna drop this here for the people claiming she's whitewashed.
Beautiful work as always, Sakimi. I adore her!!
theres a people that claimed and being rude said the artist are 'whitewashing', when they are ok with 'blackwashing', literally changed all the bodytype of the character, or hair or something else and make it into a totally different character, double standard at the finest. 👎
A lot of people in general don't understand the concept of whitewashing, much less to contribute in perpetuating the idea with their artworks. Please, if you're really concerned then there's a better approach in educating people than instantly stepping them on their faces.
