@FearVisor I am not great either. But from my personal experience, create an additional layer (overlay blend) with the opacity of ~75% and set the highlights with the help of your light source preference, overlay blend will make colors of your drawing react to light source properly. (1/2)
Sometimes I get asked why I'm in the Pokemon Uranium credits. I was requested to make a couple Mega Pokemon for the game and whether due to time constraints or personal preference, they ultimately didn't get in the final draft. But I still got a nice little conceptual art credit.
