2月16日は【天気図記念日】
1883年2月16日、東京気象台(後の気象庁)で日本初の天気図が作成された。指導したのは、お雇い外国人でドイツの気象学者エリヴィン・クニッピング。同年3月1日からは毎日の天気図の印刷配布が始まり、5月26日には東京気象台で初の暴風警報が出された。
