Continuing with my space crew concept, here's Lord Equilarva with his lovable yet mysterious boss (don't know her name yet).

but not all caterpillars have osmeteria. only larvae from the family Papilionidae (AKA swallowtail butterflies) have them.

as we may all know, caterpie will eventually evolve into butterfree, but if you look closely butterfree doesn't have a swallowtail.

butterfree ain't shit.

a quick entomology lesson relating to pokemon:

so the red thing on caterpie's head in real life caterpillars is actually called an osmeterium, and it's a defensive organ that sprouts when papilionidae larvae feel threatened, so

to sum up, caterpie feels 24/7 threatened.
