usually id do another layer of darker colours before this, but after im happy w the 'base' i go in with a colour like a deep pink to really get those shadows in. usually do it with a clipping layer so i can mess w the colours

it makes the skin look more vibrant and,, it pink :)

basically my method is
1. go slightly darker and redder
2. find where a shadow might be
3. blend the shit out of it

i use a lot of clipping layers before merging each layer. mostly use a mix of a modified csp oil brush + occasionally the 'running colour on fiber' blur tool

They are pretty much the same thing but affect different set of layers.
Clipping layers will only be visible where the layer they are "clipped" to exists.
In this case my color layers are clipped to my block one. If I release them, you can see what the layers really have.

This is where the skirt was taking its shape to transform into it's final form 😭. I still had to fix lots of clipping, as well as draw the textures. The final version is way shorter because me and barbie thought it was too tall, so lots of adjustments were made by both of us.

You can use clipping masks to create the illusion of depth on a 2D surface like you'd find in comics. While it's a flat image, we use the clipping mask to make it seem like this character's hair is in front of the balloon.
