Also, Knuckles was originally planned to be green during Sonic 3's development. Many suspect that Penders just turned him green in the Chaos Knuckles arc because he's become a living Chaos Emerald and all Chaos Emeralds in Archie in that era were green.

I like how the first 8 issues of the Archie Sonic reboot each had their own little tagline, which by the way, the old one "The World's Most Way Past Cool Comic!" last appeared in issue 235's cover and was gone after that.
Once Waves of Change hit, this little reboot trend left.

The Eggman Empire arc by Ian Flynn in Archie Sonic gets a lot of love for being the storyline where Sonic gets a big beatdown, although he immediately recovers in the next issue, it's the best you can get under Sega's mandates.
Though there ARE flaws with this storyline.
