There's no other link between them, but we do know that another aspect of Guile was based on JJBA - his iconic haircut is taken straight from Rudolf von Stroheim, and that's confirmed.

Thinking about where the name "Guile" came from. It's not a REAL name, and it doesn't describe his character, so why pick that random word from the dictionary for him?

I can't say for sure, but maybe somebody at Capcom read Jojo and liked J. Geil's name - written as ガイル.

Wow, it's been like, 3 years (as of tomorrow) since Guile was announced for SFV! That said, I couldn't resist drawing one of his SF4 costumes as a parody of the Three Wolf Moon painting/shirt by Antonia Neshev that became a meme in the early 2000s.

Oh hey, I never noticed that when you switch through characters in char-select, there's one frame where the game displays most (not all, see the top part) of the new character's sprite, but with the other character's palette.
