All of my pieces are around 4k mark, 300dp, which may be part of it. The other thing is using the “sharpen” function on it once it’s finished. (It helps all those great textures really pop.) just make sure to do it on a copied layer, so later adjustments can be made, if needed.

To finish out the piece, I adjust the baby creatures' anatomy to make them feel more cute and approachable. My last and favorite step is to add in the lighting! I use adjustment layers to brighten up the piece while carefully considering each light source.
