Meet Edenopteron: a large predatory fish known from the Late Devonian of Australia. It was among the largest of the Tristichopterids and bore large, fang-like teeth; serving as one of the top predators of its time.
@e3dtp @GeosciencesEd Enjoying PGR talks greatly!
👉Also, anyone attending please check out my poster & video, I use props to describe anatomy of new Scottish pterosau👈 [also don't forget to vote for the best one!]
Other fantasy pterosaur-riders include these works by Chris Achilleos, halfling pterosaur riders from D&D, & lizard men on pterosaurs in Warhammer.
Maybe the most iconic of comicdom's pterosaur-riders is Moebius's character Arzach. Granted, Arzach's (sometimes mechanical) mount is more a fantastic pterosaur-like creature than a scientific restoration, but the art is so good, I'm going to allow it in the thread.
Antes de que alguien la haga...el tuit ya salió sobre está idea

@TheNeonWolfyy Hello! ~
This is my weird idiot :'>
He's a pterodactyl canine (Or lion form cause why not) that likes junk food, making friends, and terrible puns. Easily forgets things and loves naps, and will talk to you about movies/TV shows all day (loves binge-watching stuff)
Thank you!! 💖

has someone worked out what a saddle that could realistically allow a human to ride a pterosaur without significantly hindering its flight capabilities would look like

Here's old, outdated reconstruction of a tanystropheid - where it's elongate cervical (neck) vertebra were treated as extension of phalanges (pterosaur wings). Now it's accepted they likely were long-necked aquatic animals, based on its wonderful fossils (check out its skull!)
Tapejara’s name translates to the “Old Being” in Tupi! This pterosaur sported large claws on its feet that may have aided this animal in climbing. Tapejara may have either been omnivorous or frugivorous, snacking on foods such as fruits! Part of a complete breakfast (probably...)
These same authors also have a book called "P is for Pterodactyl; The Worst Alphabet Book Ever" and it is similarly beautifully trollish. Oh, English.

I think it's been long enough. This Pterodactylus needs a name (He's from the Kingdom of Katia, which has a mythological naming scheme) any obscure suggestions would help 🤔

@piminxp Me with a forrest seahorse denjuu, armadillo denjuu, pterosaur denjuu etc.And yes they are JoJo characters imagined as those species. I like picking more unusual critters, in fact my most favourite characters are all denjuu. If you want to hear more about denjuu let me know.
@thetzechun I'm researching evolution of pterosaurs and drawing them while I do it ☺️
EVERYtime I animate by the time I’m done I’ve completely fucked up the characters design✏️🙂
This pterodactyl I started at 12am
vs.
When I finished animating him @ 4am
