@WendigoCreation I would say what you've made looks great so far. What has helped me is using more saturated tones and really getting into dynamic lighting. Saturated colors work really well for shading and you can even play around with all colors! I personally use deep red tones.

1. If you think your picture is a bit flat, overlay texture on top & lower the opacity to your liking. (Personally I use textures like watercolor, or old paper.)

this is how I, personally would design Flamigo from #PokemonScarletViolet
Basically, I took the fighting type, the boxing-glove shape, and ran with it. I tried to give this flamingo pokemon the appearance of a boxer, while still kind of looking like a flamingo

@AuthorGoodwin Depends on the series. I don’t think every fantasy ‘must’ have them. There are tons of alternative magical creatures.
However, I personally love writing dragons, so I have quite a few kinds in my Flames of Kalleen series.
