growing up I often preferred colour pencils over brushes since it felt easier to be precise with details.

When I began to take art more seriously I coloured digitally by scanning traditional artwork and tracing over them digitally; first with a mouse and later with a tablet.

it's a mix between referencing and tracing on this one, especially for Tartaglia. for the colours, i used some references from Toilet Bound Hanako-kun anime stills.

Another great trick is you can start tracing odd shapes and elevations right onto it. I freehanded the perspective and it would have worked better if I used guides, but for a quick and dirty rendering to convey an idea it worked great!
