Les Océanides (détail), 1869.
Paul Gustave Louis Christophe Doré.
In Greek #mythology the Oceanides are the daughters of the Titans Oceanus and Tethys.
Doré depicts the mourning of the Oceanides as they cluster about the rock on which #prometheus is chained.

The wished smile, rapturously kiss'd
By one so deep in love, then he, who ne'er
From me shall separate, at once my lips
All trembling kiss'd."
