jA I hear you!! Sounds like you're more comfortable with figures--may I suggest as a starter similar to the ol Crysis-style nanosuit? It's more about muscle groups than geometry (a challenge in of itself, mUSCles whEw!!) and makes for a cool look on its own or with bulky armor-
